11th Docudays UA Travelling Festival starts screenings in Ukraine
In October, the 11th Docudays UA Travelling International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival begins in Ukraine. During October and November, contemporary documentary masterpieces will be shown to citizens of Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Kryvyi Rih, Lviv, Zhytomyr, Ternopil, Zaporizhia, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Kherson, Donetsk Oblast, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea – overall more than 230 cities and towns in Ukraine.
Admission to all screenings is free.
Docudays UA Travelling Festival will show more than 30 best documentaries of 2012–2013. This year's program traditionally includes the favourites of the 11th Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival that took place in Kyiv on March 20–27, 2014. The selection includes the winner of DOCU/LIFE, The Last Limousine by Daria Khlyostkina (Russia, 2014); the winner of DOCU/SHORT, Liza, Go Home by Oksana Buraja (Lithuania, Estonia, 2012); the winner of DOCU/RIGHT, A Mother's Dream by Valerie Gudenus (Switzerland, 2013), and more. Besides, during the festival the audience will have a chance to watch award winning films from famous international documentary film festivals.
The festival will also present a selection of young Ukrainian filmmakers' works: Crepuscule by Valentyn Vasyanovych, Amosov – Centenary by Serhiy Lysenko, Café Voyage by Roman Bondarchuk, Positive by Polina Kelm, Sickfuckpeople by Yuriy Rechynskyi. And a new film from the New Heroes shorts series – Khersonshchyna the Borderland by Serhiy Lysenko. The film tells about volunteers who ever since the annexation of the Crimea by the Russian Federation help the Ukrainian army equip the border and provide border patrols, territorial defense battalion Sarmat and military volunteers going to fight in the ATO with clothes, food, body armors, steel pots, optical trackers, thermal cameras and other equipment.
For three months, Travelling Docudays UA will hold its screenings in cinema halls, houses of culture, universities, schools, youth clubs, libraries and penitentiary facilities. After screenings, organizers usually invite the audience to discuss films and respective topics of human rights in Ukraine with famous human rights activists, cultural workers and artists.
Like this year's festival in Kyiv, travelling screenings will have a central subject – Ideoruption. This neologism invented by the festival's team implies that the phenomenon of corruption is so destructive to society that only mass civic resistance can produce decisive changes in the country. We will talk about corruption as total violation of human rights, such as right to access information, right to a fair trial, freedom of speech and many other liberties.
Partners of the festival in the Ukrainian regions are 46 leading youth, civic and human rights organizations.

11th Docudays UA Travelling International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival in Ukraine will be supported by the Government of Sweden.

Docudays UA is the only international human rights documentary film festival in Ukraine. It takes place in Kyiv yearly on the last week of March. In 2014 the festival in Kyiv was attended by 38 200 people.
Afterwards, Docudays UA traditionally presents the best films in the regions of Ukraine during the Travelling Festival. The screenings are held from October to December. In 2013 Docudays UA Travelling Festival visited 231 cities and towns in 23 regions of Ukraine, the Crimea, Sevastopol and Kyiv cities. Admission to all screenings is free of charge.
12th Docudays UA will be held on March 20–26, 2015, in the Kyiv Cinema House. Deadline for film submissions is November 30, 2014.
